Sex Pistols God Save The Queen For Diamond Jubilee No.1

Punk legends The Sex Pistols are re-releasing anarchic anthem God Save The Queen in a bid for a Diamond Jubilee number one. The song, with its opening line "God Save The Queen / A fascist regime / Made you a moron" sung by snarling front man Johnny Rotten, is due out in the last week of May. It will go head-to-head in the charts with an official Jubilee song by Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Despite a BBC ban, the single, with a defaced image of the Queen on its cover, got to number two during Royal Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977, pipped by Rod Stewart's I Don't Want To Talk About It. It sold more than 150000 and fans claimed only a showbiz plot kept it off the top. Now one campaigner on Facebook says: "This song was denied the No 1 for the Silver Jubilee... time for a re-match... who's in?" The Sex Pistols split in 1978 and a year later bass player Sid Vicious died of a drugs overdose while waiting to stand trial on charges of knifing his girlfriend to death.
Public Image Ltd: One Drop: First New PIL Track in 20 years.

Back in 2009, John Lydon started touring with a reconstituted version of his legendary postpunk group Public Image Ltd. And on 4/21, Record Store Day, they'll return with a new vinyl EP, their first new studio material since 1992. "One Drop,"does a pretty good job simulating the fearsome reggae-inflicted sound of PiL's older records. Set for release April 21 2012

The Sex Pistols. Pretty Vacant. Filmed for TOTP

"Pretty Vacant" was released on 1 July 1977 as the third single and was later featured on their only album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. The song marked the band's only appearance on the British music show Top of the Pops. The song is infamous for vocalist John Lydon's phrasing of the word "vacant", emphasizing the last syllable making it sound like the word "cunt".According to Glen Matlock the riff was inspired by "SOS" by ABBA after hearing it on the radio. The B-side is a cover of The Stooges' "No Fun" which they played on the spot without a proper rehearsal. New Musical Express (NME) magazine made it their Single of the Year in 1977. In March 2005, Q magazine placed the song at number 26 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.

Sid Vicious: My Way

And now, the end is near And so I face the final curtain You cunt, I´m not a queer I´ll state my case, of which I´m certain I´ve lived a life that´s full I've traveled each and every highway And more, much more than this I did it my way Regrets, I´ve had a few But then again, too few to mention I did, what I had to do And saw it through with out exemption I planned each chartered course Each careful step along the highway And more, much more than this I did it my way There were times, I´m sure you knew When there was fuck fuck fuck-all else to do But through it all, when there was doubt I shot it up or kicked it out I faced the wall and the world And did it my way I've laughed and been a snide I´ve had my fill, my share of losing And now, the tears subside I find it all so amusing To think, I killed a cat And may I say, not in a gay way Oh no, oh no not me I did it my way For what is a prat, what has he got When he wears hats and he cannot Say the things he truly feels But only the words, of one who kneels The record shows, I fucked a bloke And did it my way

Sid Vicious: New York Cable TV: 1978

Morose, foul-mouthed and dismissive, a shirtless Sid Vicious is joined by a very vocal Nancy Spungen (with co-guests Stiv Bators and Cynthia of the B Girls) on a live New York cable TV show recorded shortly after the break-up of the Sex Pistols. When a drippy female caller flirts with Sid over the phone, Nancy wades in: 'You better keep your fucking hands off him...' A slanging match ensues. Viva la punk.

Their music was clearly focused on destruction, anarchy, and chaos in a literal sense and not as any popular trend. Despite releasing only one album during this tumultuous era, the Sex Pistols created one of the great paradigm shifts in modern music, forever changing the landscape of the music industry The set list includes "Anarchy in the UK," "God Save the Queen," "Holidays in the Sun," "Belsen Was a Gas," "Pretty Vacant," "No Fun,"

THE FILTH AND THE FURY. PART 7 HD

Good documentaries aren't hard to find. Great documentaries are few and far between the cracks of cinematic achievements. The new documentary The Filth and the Fury ranks as one of the great ones. It chronicles the rise and tragic fall of the infamous British Punk band The Sex Pistols, and the cultural impact they have spread upon the world around us. Director Julian Temple takes the film far above the usual VH-1 retrospectives, recounting past glories, drug parties, and the way a musician found God in a motel in Alabama, thus bringing together the catalytic elements that resulted in the musical movement called 'Punk.' The Sex Pistols were the forefathers of that movement. In the late seventies, Britain's social upheaval was severe. A stagnant economy, unemployment, race riots, looting, and strikes intersected with a strong distaste for royalty and the upper class. A working class revolution was in the works. Punk music was its Gabriel's Trumpet, and the Pistols were blowing with all of their might. With this backdrop, the film then beautifully intertwines social commentary with television commercials of the time, footage of riots, and various news reports. The film then juxtaposes current and past interviews with all five band members as well as home footage of the bandmates' childhood (including a rare interview with Sid Vicious before his death in 1978). The intimacy of these interviews and the evidence of the social strife validate the actions of the members of the ...
